Violets are my second favorite childhood flowers. I remember running around the yard, searching for the purple flowers growing in the grass. Come summer, I plan to relive my childhood and collect the purple flowers to dry for this potpourri recipe.
1 quart dried violet blossoms
1 cup dried rose petals
2 Tbsp sea salt
1/2 oz powdered orris root
Lightly crush violets and rose petals into a quart sized glass bowl. Add remaining ingredients. Stir with the handle of a wooden spoon or just use a stick. You can store potpourri in a glass jar, kept out of the sun until ready for use. To add more scent, mix in a drop or two of violet fragrant oil.
