What Do People Want?
A quick browse through the best selling nonfiction books and I can tell that people want to make money, lose weight, gain friends, and change their habits. The books that are selling are books that show readers how to make a positive change in their lives, whether it is by eating better, cleansing the system, changing their habits, gaining new friends, or starting a small business. BUT, what should you write about? Ask yourself...
What Do You Want?
Sitting down and having a serious think session with yourself will help you figure out what you want in life. What positive changes do you want? Personally, I want to live forever, but I'll settle for looking young in my 40s. Just by that brief statement I made on my wants, I came up with three book titles. No, I'm not sharing them with you. Come up with your own.
After a bit of soul searching, you should have a list of things that you want. Choose one item on that list to focus on. You will begin your research and, if appropriate, you will begin experimenting with yourself. For example, if you want to lose weight in your 50s, you will research methods of losing weight and apply those methods to yourself. The best books are written by those with personal experience.
Break your book idea down into chapters and follow the basic guideline for creating a nonfiction book.
